My grand-nephew is TrainMan :) and has amazing encyclopedic knowledge of trains! Shot these Dec 4, just for the fun of getting out with him. When I got up that morning the weather was crazy blowing snow and I thought "gonna suck today for shooting trains with Nephew"... but the opposite turned out to be true. Snow squalls and terrific wind created some "cool" composition opportunities.

All shot with a Nikon Z7 and Nikon 24-120mm (I was too lazy to take my 600mm off of my Nikon Z8 ... but the Z7 worked just fine!).

The little guy had a blast too. He's been to the rail-yard hundreds of times and knows every train, every mile marker, he's got the scanner, knows what's coming when, etc. ... so he was the train expert getting us to where we needed to go. Currently, he's focused on chasing "heritage" trains (I didn't know there was such a thing!). Nephew learned a few things by asking "how'd you do that" with a few of my shots. A great day.
