Greenland (east), Whales: Jerry Weimar Photography

We were fortunate to photograph Humpback Whales on 3 different days in Sermilik Fjord (which means "place with glaciers" in Greenlandic).

The Humpbacks surface to breath 4-5 times in sequence, without showing their fluke, and finally show their fluke on the last breath of the sequence when they do a deep-dive and disappear beneath the waves.

These were in a group of several Humpbacks, allowing me to get 2 of them in the frame as they swam towards each other.

We also saw Fin Whales at a distance (1 image here).
